Recall that in John's community there is a division between two groups - the Hellenists
(people of Greek philosophy origin )
and Hebrews (people of Jewish origin who find it difficult to mix with Gentiles
c/f Acts 6:1) There are hints to suggest John addresses one group in particular here. Have another look. Also note a certain stress at the end of each paragraph pair. |
